Hungarian Chicken

This chicken dish is traditionally known in Hungary, where it is cooked with the best quality sweet peppers. The meat and peppers are tender in reach sauce. You can serve it with mashed potato or boiled potato wedges, or any side dish.

Description

Cook chicken and peppers until tender and make rich soured cream and yoghurt sauce with sweet paprika to highlight the taste.

Ingredients
  • 500 g chicen drumsticks
  • 1 white onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 100 ml chicken stock
  • 150 g soured cream
  • 3 tbsp greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sweet paprika
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
  1. Brown chicken drumsticks for 2-3 minutes per side on a pan with olive oil and butter on high heat.

  2. Remove it from the pan on the plate aside.

  3. Fry onion for 3 minutes, until soft. Then add garlic and fry for 30 seconds.

  4. Add peppers to the pan and return the chicken.

  5. Pour chicken stock and lemon juice into the chicken, bring it to a boil and cook for 30-40 minutes on low heat.

  6. After that mix sour cream, yoghurt and paprika and add this mixture to the pan with chicken. Simmer it for 5 more minutes.

  7. Serve with fresh parsley, chopped finely.
