These meatballs in tomato sauce with mashed potatoes are a flavorful and wholesome dish that combines juicy lean ground turkey and rice meatballs, a savoury tomato sauce, and creamy mashed potatoes.
Mix thoroughly all the ingredients for the meatballs in a bowl, except olive oil.
Form the meatballs and cook them on a pan with 2 tbsp olive oil on medium heat for 3 minutes per side.
Remove the meatballs from the pan onto the plate and set aside. Clean the pan.
Add 1 tbsp olive oil to the pan and saute the onions for 3-4 minutes, then add garlic, and saute for 1-2 minutes.
Then add tomato passata and herbs, spices, cream cheese and season with salt, cook for 1-2 minutes.
Return meatballs and cook for another 7-8 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the potato in boiling salted water for 15-20 minutes, until soft. Drain the water and add butter and milk. Mash it until smooth.
Serve meatballs in tomato sauce along with mashed potatoes and enjoy.
