Turkey meatballs in tomato sauce with mashed potatoes is a comforting and flavorful dish. Succulent turkey meatballs, seasoned with herbs and spices, are simmered in a rich tomato sauce until tender. The dish is served over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes, creating a satisfying combination of savoury flavours. The turkey meatballs absorb the robust taste of the tomato sauce, while the mashed potatoes provide a comforting base. This simple yet hearty meal offers a balance of protein, vegetables, and starch, making it a delicious and well-rounded option for a cosy dinner.

Instructions

  1. Mix thoroughly all the ingredients for the meatballs in a bowl, except olive oil.

  2. Form the meatballs and cook them on a pan with 2 tbsp olive oil on medium heat for 3 minutes per side.

  3. Remove the meatballs from the pan onto the plate and set aside. Clean the pan.

  4. Add 1 tbsp olive oil to the pan and saute the onions for 3-4 minutes, then add garlic, and saute for 1-2 minutes.

  5. Then add tomato passata and herbs, spices, cream cheese and season with salt, cook for 1-2 minutes.

  6. Return meatballs and cook for another 7-8 minutes.

  7. Meanwhile, cook the potato in boiling salted water for 15-20 minutes, until soft. Drain the water and add butter and milk. Mash it until smooth.

  8. Serve meatballs in tomato sauce along with mashed potatoes and enjoy.
